How important is it to have the exact edition of a text book?

I ordered a book for my college course. Although I used the ISBN to find it, it wasn't the correct edition when I got it in the mail. My course calls for the 4th edition, and this is the 2nd... Can I still use this one, or will it affect my grades? Could this cause me to get some questions wrong? Please help!
